CRYPTIDZ was newly formed in 2009, when award winning score composer/punk rock musician Rob Reider {TOOTH AND THE ENAMELS/LO-REZ/GREEN HELL} and death metal vocalist Kam Lee {BONE GNAWER/THE GROTESQUERY and more… formerly of MANTAS-DEATH/MASSACRE/DENIAL FIEND} decided to just go for it and form a creepy eerie horror filled macabre band that blends influences from the 80’s era type of “old school” Death-Rock, Horror Punk, Psychobilly, Surf Rock, and Crust-Core styles.
The general idea and theme of the band is based around classic horror and spook house fun! Zombies, sexy pin up babes, Cryptid creatures – Big Foot/Yeti/Skunk Ape/Chupacabra, sexy pin up babes, beer and alcohol, sexy pin up babes, horror films, sexy pin up babes, Go-Go Dancers, sexy pin up babes, Monsters and Madmen, and even more sexy zombified pin up babes.
Like a carnival ride thru a freak show in hell – CRYPTIDZ shall rattle your brain and twist up your intestines!
Taking influences from ‘classic death rockers’ THE MISFITS – mixing it in a blender with ‘old school psychobilly spooky rockers’: THE CRAMPS – baking in a simplistic old school punk rock groove like: THE RAMONES and THE SONICS – flavored with some eerie surf/garage punk like: THE GHASTLY ONES – coating it with a bit of insane psychobilly madness like: DEMENTED ARE GO – sprinkled with some of the early hardcore traits of: THE PLASMATICS, and finally layering it in a crust-core like finish with such acts as: DISCHARGE.
A blended mix of horror punk intensity, death rock catchiness, psychobilly madness, surf rock grooviness, crust-core insanity, and Halloween spooky thrills & chills… that’s what best describes the CRYPTIDZ sound!!
